As Task Leader in the GÉANT project WP2 T1 (Communications and Design), Silvia coordinates the communications activities for the annual TNC conference, since TNC24.
Silvia is Task Leader for GN5-2 T1 (Communications and Design) at GÉANT, where she is responsible for planning and monitoring the execution of the communications activities for the current phase of the GÉANT project.
Since TNC24, Silvia has been the comms lead for the annual TNC conference, making sure everyone knows about the cool things happening at the event and that the branding and visuals shine (thanks to the design team’s magic!).She also manages the CONNECT magazine where written contributions from all across the GÉANT community and its global partners are collated and published.
She coordinates the Special Interest Group on Marketing and Communications, SIG-Marcomms, a vibrant community of marketing and communications experts from NRENs across the globe who share ideas, lessons learned, and collaboration opportunities to showcase the impact of our work.
She leads the comms team for the EU co-funded AfricaConnect3 project, promoting digital infrastructure for education and research in Africa, and also leads the comms efforts for the EuroHPC hyperconnectivity project.
She’s passionate about making marcomms visible (because it’s often an invisible force!) and has spoken at events like e-AGE 2022 and TNC23 on the work that she and the AC3 comms team did to map out the contributions of the African community to the UN SDGs, and more recently at APAN60 in July 2025 on the power of global collaboration through the GÉANT Community Programme.
Her publications include content published in the African Union ECHO Magazine in November 2024 and UNESCO World Education Blog in June 2023.
She enjoys working with international partners and getting to know how other organisations in the research and education world do comms!
With an academic background in international management and international security, Silvia found her true calling in communications – loving its creativity, flexibility, and the structure of project management. She’s also a proud alumnus of the Global Learning and Development Programme by GÉANT and AARNet.
